Our 2026 Rise mantra is “No Bad Days”. In case you missed it, here’s a blog post explaining more about the motto. This month, we're talking all about the power of our words.

There are just three months remaining in 2026, which may not seem like a lot. But what if we phrased it a bit differently, like this...

You still have a quarter of your year left.

The words and phrases we use when we're talking to ourselves make a huge difference in the way we perceive our circumstances. Making even the most subtle of changes to our inner dialogue can completely shift our outlook on everything from relationships to fitness to finances to work.

Here are a couple of examples of phrases we may catch ourselves saying, with alternative phrasing that shifts the direction of the inner dialogue. Some relate to fitness and some don't.

  • "I don't feel like working out today"

    • "I know I'll feel good about keeping the commitment I made to myself."

  • "I'm just not a disciplined person."

    • "Discipline is a skill that I can continue to develop."

  • "I am too busy to work out."

    • "Life is busy right now, so I might have to get creative to find time to invest in my health."

  • "I hate that I'm not as strong as I used to be."

    • "I am building strength for my future self."

  • "I wish I had their life."

    • "I can appreciate what someone else has while being grateful for my own life."

  • "That person drives me crazy."

    • "I can't control their words or actions, but I can control how I respond."

  • "I'm having a bad day."

    • "I'm having a tough day."

Whenever we feel ourselves getting into a negative headspace or a victim mentality, choosing to shift the words we use when talking to ourselves and to others can make a real impact on our overall mood and mindset. Our motto of "No Bad Days" isn't about forcing ourselves to pretend that everything is good all the time. But it is about recognizing that we are control of how we approach each day, even when it's a tough one.

Henry Ford said it best when he said, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, either way you are right."

What situation, relationship, or aspect of your life do you find yourself using negative language when you think or talk about it? Try making a real, active effort to shift your inner dialogue surrounding it, and take note of the difference that it makes. We'd love to hear about it!
