"No Bad Days": Our 2026 Motto

The Rise leadership team had the privilege of going to the Faith Forward event held at Hope South Church a few weeks ago. This conference is a place where local Christian business professionals come together to listen to speakers, connect, and learn from one another.
One of the event’s keynote speakers was Hunter Pinke, who is a ND native and a friend of mine. Many of you are likely familiar with Hunter’s story. Hunter is from Wishek, ND and went on to play football at UND. While playing at UND, he went on a downhill skiing trip where he collided with another skier, went head first into a tree, and became paralyzed from the chest down. I hope you all get the opportunity to hear Hunter’s story in person at some point because he will bring you to tears. Not only does he share about this life-changing moment and the adversity that came with it, but he dives deeply into his faith and how it’s carried him through his darkest days, as well as the attitude he chooses to have every single day since his skiing accident.
Hunter’s motto is “No Bad Days”. As he puts it, there are good days and there are tough days. But he chooses to have no bad days. Here are three truths he tells us to remember:
You are here. Each day we’re given is a gift. Simply being here is something to be grateful for.
You are loved. You are not just another person. Your life has a meaning. Even on the hardest days, we are all deeply loved.
You have a choice. Every day, we have a choice in how we show up in our attitude, our effort, and the energy we bring.
We will all face days where we struggle, but those are tough days, not bad days. On those days, we can always come back to these truths that we are here, we are loved, and we have a choice.
At Rise, we like to choose a theme for each year. This is a mantra for our team and our members to focus on for 365 days. When Aaron (my co-owner), and Megan (Rise’s Director), and myself all heard Hunter talk about “No Bad Days”, we knew that was going to be our theme for 2026. 2025’s mantra was “Standard over Feeling” which meant showing up even when you don’t feel like it. 2026 is the year where we choose to have No Bad Days, and we look forward to diving more deeply into what this can practically look like in our lives as we progress throughout the year.
I hope this mantra gets you as excited as it’s gotten us. Cheers to finishing out the year strong, and to a wonderful 2026 ahead!
