Co-owned by Chase Morlock and Aaron Lien, our desire to help people reach their fitness goals and live healthy lives has grown into a business that has served hundreds of people throughout the Fargo-Moorhead community.
We strive to deliver the best fitness experience in the area by improving the health and longevity of our members through accountability, excellent customer service, and the expertise necessary to reach their fitness goals injury-free.
In October 2016, Chase’s dad, Paul Morlock, passed away from stage IV colorectal cancer, after being diagnosed a year prior. Chase moved home to be with his mom, Jeannie. All of the gym equipment he had acquired during college also came with him, and it found a new home in his mom’s garage.
Chase and Aaron, who are lifelong friends and high school teammates, finished up their college athletic careers at NDSU & MSUM respectively, and began training together in Jeannie’s garage. Their intention was to compete in sand volleyball tournaments, but time spent training in the garage soon evolved into something much bigger.
Chase's mom asked him to train her, and in that moment Rise was born. He experienced firsthand the need for fitness training for an underserved population – busy adults. Chase and Aaron set out with a new purpose to help people live healthier and prevent disease. They started an official business, and more people started training in the garage.
After serveral months of training in the garage, the small space heater was no longer holding its own against the dropping winter temperatures. Chase and Aaron decided to find their first “real” location. They signed a lease on a building in Moorhead’s industrial park and began operations in the first week of the new year.
The business endured many challenges in 2019 and again in 2020, but the Rise team stayed committed to helping people achieve their fitness goals. In 2021, Rise's building was being sold which meant it would need to find a new location. Construction began in the winter of 2021 on the new facility.
Rise moved in to their new facility at 685 Appletree Lane. The team and members alike were thrilled to have access to many more amenities, like more space, air conditioning, showers, and a more convenient location.
Rise began as a simple dream and has grown into a place where people can achieve their fitness goals and be their best selves. We hope our story provides a good reminder that achieving goals isn't always easy, but great things happen with perseverance. We're thrilled to continue growing and we have big plans to continue delivering the best experience possible.
We’re in it for the long haul, and we hope you’ll join us along for the ride.
