What mindset do you have?

Your mindset is a choice. Which one are you choosing?

The Rise Team

When was the last time you checked in with your mindset? If you can’t remember, you’re likely overdue to spend a little time reflecting on how exactly you’re viewing your life. It may seem silly, but intentionally spending time working on mindset can transform the way you perceive nearly every aspect of your life.

We all have different personalities, and that should be celebrated! I’m not talking about shifting your personality, but rather the mental frameworks that shape how you interpret your experiences. “No Bad Days” - our 2026 Rise motto - is just one of many mindsets we can be operating out of.

Below are some common mindsets that we can fall into, and reflection questions that may reveal which mindsets we're operating from - maybe without even realizing it.

1. Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset

A growth mindset sees challenges as opportunities to learn. A fixed mindset sees them as limits or even stopping points.

Reflection Questions:

  • When something is difficult, do I see it as a challenge or a threat?

  • How do I react when I fail?

  • Do I believe I can improve through effort and consistency?

  • What is something I've gotten better at over the last year that once felt impossible?

You can check out a more in-depth blog on growth mindset here.

2. Victim Mindset vs. Ownership Mindset

A victim mindset focuses on what life is doing to us. An ownership mindset focuses on how we respond.

Reflection Questions:

  • What am I currently blaming for my lack of progress?

  • Where am I waiting for circumstances to change before I take action?

3. Scarcity Mindset vs. Abundance Mindset

Scarcity says there isn't enough time, opportunity, success, or energy for everyone. Abundance believes there is enough for you, even if other people also have been blessed abundantly.

Reflection Questions:

  • Do I spend more time focusing on what I lack or what I have?

  • Am I threatened by other people's success or inspired by it?

  • What blessings have I begun to take for granted?

4. Gratitude Mindset vs. Complaint Mindset

A gratitude mindset can find goodness in even the toughest situations.

Reflection Questions:

  • What have I complained about recently?

  • Is there a gift hidden inside that challenge?

5. Comeback Mindset vs. Defeat Mindset

A defeat mindset says, "I blew it." A comeback mindset says, "I will begin again."

Reflection Questions:

  • What setback am I allowing to define me?

  • What would it look like for me to start again?

6. Reactive Mindset vs. Intentional Mindset

A reactive person lets circumstances dictate their day. An intentional person chooses their actions and their responses.

Reflection Questions:

  • Am I leading my day or reacting to it?

  • What is currently getting my attention that doesn't deserve my focus?

  • What are my top priorities this week?

(One small note on Reactive vs. Intentional Mindset that I have experienced - make sure to build down time into your day and expect interruptions. Sometimes those interruptions are people God put in your life for a reason at that moment. You do not need to “optimize” every moment of your day.)

Once we identify the mindsets we're currently operating from, we can begin taking steps to shift where needed. But if we don’t know our starting point, how can we know where we need to make changes?

I hope you can take a few minutes to think through these mindset reflection questions and identify where you are at. Then take a moment to start shifting your mindset to be focused on ownership, gratitude, intentionality, growth and so forth.

Remember: No bad days! That’s a choice.
