The value of a gym membership
Ellie Brewer
•They say you can tell what’s important to a person based on two things: How they spend their time and how they spend their money. We have limited capacities for both these things, and we get to decide the best way to spend them. When it comes to our finances, we have to pick and choose the things we care about most, and budget our money to ensure those things happen.
If you’re reading this, it's likely because you’re interested in changing your life, and you are deciding if you’re ready to take the next step. There is something you want to do differently in your lifestyle, and you’ve noticed it in the little things that always seem to crop up. Maybe you have a harder time walking up the stairs, or your doctor has told you they’re keeping an eye on your bone mineral density. Maybe you took a fall recently, and you want to avoid the long recovery that came with it in the future. Maybe you can’t play with your kids or grandkids as easily because you can’t get up and down off the floor anymore, or you can’t seem to catch your breath. Or, maybe it’s something as simple as not being able to hit a golf ball as far or as hard as you would like.
Whatever your “why” is, let this be your reason to take that first step and make a change. You are reading this blog for a reason, so let us tell you how we can help.
Invest in yourself
A phrase you’ll hear us say a lot around Rise is, “Movement is medicine.” It’s a fun thing for our coaches to shout on the gym floor - but it also has a lot of truth to it. Exercise plays a huge role in your ability to get and stay healthy. Good nutrition and proper exercise are truly nature’s medicine.
Another idea we give a lot of weight to at Rise is filling up your own cup. You’ll hear Coach Megan say “Put your own oxygen mask on before you help someone with theirs,” and she couldn’t be more right. If you aren’t investing in yourself and putting time and effort into being the healthiest person you can be, how can you expect to show up for your family, coworkers, and friends?
At Rise, you aren’t just paying for a personalized program, small group personal training, and nutrition coaching. What you get is so much more than that. Here, we have a community that truly cares about you and your success. Our coaches are available for any questions you have, and we help hold you accountable to the habits you are trying to change. One of our core values is accountability, and we go above and beyond to help you make achievable goals and stick to them.
Your personalized workout program and nutrition coaching are two key ways we provide value to you. At Rise, our certified trainers with 6+ years of education and experience in their fields design a workout plan unique to you. Do you have any lingering aches or pains from old injuries? Our physical therapists in training will program and coach you specific exercises to strengthen the painful areas and get you back to feeling good. Do you struggle with nutrition? We have two nutrition coaches that will help you create proper goals to guide you through improving your food intake and fueling your body for success in and out of the gym.
One question you may ask is “why would I pay for a membership when I can do the same exercises in my garage for free?” Our own coaches can attest to the fact that as we get older and our lives get busy, it gets harder and harder to find the time and willpower to take care of ourselves. We all have so many other people in our lives that we want to take care of (family members, children, friends, coworkers, volunteer opportunities, church groups, etc.), and so many other decisions to make throughout a day, that when it comes to your own health, the thought of making one more choice has you metaphorically banging your head against a wall. When you are a part of Rise, you just have to get in the door, and we’ll take care of you from there.
One of the biggest value adds we offer is our focus on creating a sustainable, healthy lifestyle. We are not a quick fix, or a trending program that will get you results that you lose within the next month because you can’t stick to them. To succeed at Rise, you will put in the hard work with the guidance and coaching of our staff, and make changes to learn how to live a healthy, active lifestyle wherever life may take you.
In this world of high costs and expenses, we have to prioritize what is most important to us. Investing in your health will serve you in the long run; and as Coach Chase always says, what you do in your 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s will impact what you can do in your 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Let today be the day you make the change.
