The truth about who you surround yourself with
Megan Miller
•Who do you surround yourself with?
Your environment plays a role in your habits, and your relationships are a direct reflection of that environment.. You can come to understand yourself better through your connections with others. The five people closest to you – also known as your circle of influence – often have the most significant impact on your life. Here are a few areas to consider as you nurture your circle of influence.
Value alignment
The people you surround yourself with should reflect your values. Take your health, for example. You are only going to be as fit as the five people you spend the most time with. If your circle stays up till midnight while you want to prioritize a 5AM workout, something has to change. Instead, surround yourself with people who share your desire to prioritize health and wellbeing, and see how the alignment in your values makes staying on track with your goals so much easier. Whether your focus is on health, finance, faith, or career, having people who align with your values makes the journey fulfilling.
Growth mindset
You may have heard the saying, “If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.” Engaging with people who challenge your views and expand your perspective is essential. Everything you know comes from what you’ve been taught or have experienced. Sometimes, you don’t know what you don’t know. Embrace a growth mindset and remain curious; always be open to learning.
Conclusion
Surround yourself with individuals who contribute positively to your environment. At Rise, we foster a community that challenges one another to show up as the best versions of ourselves. If you’re not where you want to be, consider who you spend the majority of your time with. To see real change, change your circle of influence.
